A home within. Building continuous connections for foster youth.
Now accepting applications for a three
year Fellowship in the Treatment of Foster Youth.
A Home Within brings together clinicians in private practice to help meet the mental health needs of foster youth.
The Clinical Director of each Local Chapter facilitates the creation and growth of the chapter by building a network of clinical consultants, therapists, concerned citizens, and referral agencies. Our devoted therapists agree to take one current or former foster child into weekly pro bono psychotherapy and our senior clinicians offer pro bono
consultation groups for therapists.
In 2009 A Home Within will offer ten Fellowships to support mental health professionals wanting to establish a chapter of A Home Within in their communities. The Fellowship provides professional development and support, including:
An annual retreat in California's wine country that brings together the staff, volunteers and Board Members of A Home Within for education, training, and networking.
The retreat extends for four days for first year Fellows and three days for second, third, and senior Fellows.
A Clinical Colloquium featuring experts from a wide range of relevant fields contributes to a base of shared knowledge among the leadership of A Home Within.
Monthly topic-focused, staff-supported conference calls among small groups of Clinical Directors extend the network beyond the retreat.
Mentoring by staff and senior Clinical Directors provides individual support.
Portfolios developed by each of the Clinical Directors promote creativity in matching local needs with local resources, while drawing on the particular talents and interests of each Clinical Director.
$7, 500 allocated for discretionary spending supports the work of each chapter over the course of the Fellowship.
A Home Within provides all expenses for program, travel, and lodging during the Fellowship.
Help us build the connections that help foster children and those who work with
them succeed.
