Course Description

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a powerful, evidence-based approach to treating trauma and a wide range of psychological distress or presenting problems. In this engaging 2-hour workshop, you will be introduced to the core principles and mechanisms of EMDR, helping you understand how this therapy facilitates adaptive processing and symptom relief. We will explore key EMDR concepts, including the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, the eight-phase protocol, and how bilateral stimulation supports trauma resolution. Special attention will be given to the applicability of EMDR in working with individuals involved in the foster care system, where trauma and attachment disruptions are prevalent. You will also have the opportunity to watch a video demonstration of a full EMDR session, allowing you to gain a felt sense of what a reprocessing session looks like. Whether you are new to EMDR or considering formal training, this workshop will provide you with a solid foundation to understand its clinical application and potential benefits for your clients.
