Carolyn Gartner, LCSW, FT, is the founder of The Center For Integrated Grief, a group therapy practice. She is a licensed clinical social worker and a Fellow in Thanatology (the study of dying, death and bereavement). Prior to this she worked in hospice for 9 years. She wrote a book about her experience available on Audible: Gritty Side of Grace. She hosts a podcast on YouTube with the same name. She has been interviewed by HuffPost, Parade Magazine and American Tributaries Podcast.
There are many forms of grief that go unrecognized. Pauline Boss, who developed the theory of Ambiguous Loss, was a graduate student in the 1970's working with children in foster care. She observed they were grieving parents who were still alive. Her work has been expanded upon and a grief lens is useful to help clients define feelings. We will also do somatic work with the physical pain of loss. Participation is welcome in this event. Bring a pen for journaling.
This course is eligible for 1.5 continuing education credits.
