What would you say to someone considering volunteering with A Home Within?
Dana: Do it! Volunteering with A Home Within has been very rewarding! But this work isn't always light or easy. Having been bounced around through the system, a stable and safe relationship with a therapist is the starting point for healing and isn't something to enter in lightly. Folks who have been in the foster system often carry deep wounds from their past, but they also possess incredible resilience and strength. It is an honor to support my client and, as a therapist that values accessibility, it feels good to give back in a way I might not have the opportunity to do in my clinical practice.
