Julie Saraceno, LCSW, began volunteering with the NYC chapter of A Home Within in 2022. In addition to working with her client, she has also provided a CE training to our community of therapists!
My favorite part of volunteering with A Home Within is being connected to a network of like minded professionals that have aligned values and commitments to restoring hope to a community that is often forgot about.

What's a fun fact about you?
Julie: I was not born with any wisdom teeth and still have two baby teeth!
What is your favorite part about volunteering with A Home Within?
Julie: My favorite part of volunteering with A Home Within is being connected to a network of like minded professionals that have aligned values and commitments to restoring hope to a community that is often forgot about. I also admire A Home Within's commitment to offering ongoing trainings to therapists so they can continue to grow in their practice.
Why did you decide to join A Home Within?
Julie: Prior to opening my own private practice, I had spent almost 10 years working at a local non-profit as a child and family therapist with families impacted by the foster care system. I absolutely loved my job, the families I worked with and the hope I saw within the families. As I shifted into my private practice work, I missed the feeling of being connected to families, the foster care community and continued to reflect on the continued knowledge I had but wasn't using. Then one day it felt like the stars aligned when I saw an social media posting for A Home Within, it was the exact community I was looking for.
What would you say to someone considering volunteering with A Home Within?
Julie: It was the best decision I made for myself personally and professionally as I became connected with a supportive community that enhanced me as a therapist. There is so much authentic greatness that exists within.
Thank you, Julie, for the time and energy you give to our clients and and clinicians alike!
