I originally saw a post requesting therapists on Facebook. In my career I have worked with many neglected and abused children as well as working with families in the Navy with incidents of child abuse, neglect and domestic violence. As I am now retired from Federal Service and only practicing part-time I felt like I have time to give back.

I am seeing an adult who had a long history of neglect, trauma and had numerous foster placements and an unsuccessful adoption. She has been faithful in attending and my work with her has been incredibly gratifying. She is by far my favorite client.

I would like to see more therapists participating and for more agencies serving this population to be aware of this wonderful service. There are several agencies here in San Diego serving this population. Maybe more presentations to these agencies.

My client. I have made a commitment to her that I am here for her as long as she needs me. This is such meaningful work.

I am happy that I am in a position to be able to devote a client hour to the program. It is a small way that I can contribute to making someone’s life better which is very gratifying.
